A proposed learning campus for Ward 2 with four parts on shared ground: an English-medium independent boarding school as anchor tenant, a public school of skills, a vocational training centre focused on tourism and conservation, and the Bioregional Learning Centre as its tertiary layer. A community trust or NPC representing the whole ward holds the land and governs the campus. The boarding school leases its site from the trust, and its rent and per-learner levy fund much of the campus’s development, including bursary places for valley learners. Emil Weder remains the valley’s Afrikaans public high school and is invited to use the campus as a partner.
The model responds to the fact that a standalone English-medium day school is not viable in the valley: a boarding school recruits from outside the valley, so its size does not depend on how many children live here. It draws on two precedents: Treverton College in KwaZulu-Natal and Jakes Gerwel Technical School in Bonnievale. Earliest high school enrolment: 2030 (TBV). The vocational training centre and adult education can begin earlier. All claims are MS or TBV.
