Schooling delivered through a digital platform, with the learner working from home or any location with internet access. Providers register with an examination body (SACAI, IEB, or Cambridge) as distance education providers under that body’s accreditation regime. The examination body, not the WCED, is the primary quality-assurance mechanism.
Providers range from high-structure (UCT Online, Teneo, Wingu Academy) with timetabled live classes to low-structure (Syllabis, Impaq) with self-paced materials. Fees run from under R6,000 per year to about R45,000 per year, before device, data, and supervision costs.
