A points scale that South African universities use to convert NSC subject marks into a single figure for admission decisions. Marks in each subject (excluding Life Orientation) contribute points on a graduated scale; the total is the APS.

The scale is applied identically across DBE, IEB, and SACAI certificates. Each faculty and programme sets its own minimum APS, sometimes with additional subject-specific requirements (a minimum mark in Mathematics or Physical Sciences, for example).
