An educational orientation that grounds curriculum in the ecology, heritage, and economy of the learner’s own place. Geography becomes the local watershed; History becomes the local settlement; Life Sciences becomes local ecology. The Ward 2 Schools Program and the proposed Bioregional Learning Centre are both built on this orientation. The Treverton College precedent in KwaZulu-Natal demonstrates that place-based programmes become durable when the campus is itself a landscape.
