The theory and craft of teaching: how instruction is designed, delivered, and adapted to the learner. In the Decision Tool the word covers more than classroom method; it reaches into what a school believes education is for. Two schools can follow the same CAPS curriculum, sit the same NSC examination, and produce the same qualification while offering profoundly different pedagogies. Variable 6 works through the range available to valley families:
- Standard academic instruction (Emil Weder, Overberg High, most online providers).
- Waldorf / Steiner education (Silverwood as proposed, Michael Oak, Constantia Waldorf, Stellenbosch Waldorf).
- Project-based learning (Silverwood as proposed; some online providers).
- Self-directed online learning (online providers from Syllabis to UCT Online).
- Faith-based instruction (Emil Weder within Genadendal’s Moravian context; some boarding schools).
Pedagogy matters most for families who have a choice. For families whose options are already narrowed by cost, language, or logistics, the question can be moot.
