The dedicated matric preparation year run by South African Waldorf schools following the completion of their own 12-year developmental curriculum in Class 12. Class 13 aligns to the NSC and is written through whichever examination body the school is registered with (DBE, IEB, or SACAI).
Class 13 means the child is in school for 13 years, not 12. Some Waldorf schools now integrate CAPS content earlier to avoid the extra year. Michael Oak in Cape Town includes a Class 13 matric year; Constantia Waldorf structures its programme to align with CAPS matriculation earlier.
